PlumChoice Inc., an provider of outsourced support for technology immersion, said it has formed a partnership with the Benjamin Franklin Institute of Technology in Boston in which the two entities will co-fund and co-manage a new campus facility dedicated to training tech-support agents.

Getting an on-campus job has new meaning at Boston’s Benjamin Franklin Institute of Technology, where technology support company PlumChoice has opened a call center staffed exclusively by Ben Franklin students.
The call center opened in early August and, at the moment, 15 students are working there part-time, fielding calls from PlumChoice customers who are having problems with their PCs. The students earn between $13 and $15 an hour and receive paid time off, tuition reimbursement and some other benefits, according to PlumChoice, which is based in Lowell.

PlumChoice Inc., a Lowell-based provider of advanced tech support services, plans to hire up to 250 employees by the end of the year, bringing the total headcount to more than 1,000.
The company is also adding a 7,300 square-foot training facility to its 37,000 square-foot space in Lowell to accommodate the company’s growth.
The growth is attributed to the rise in demand for tech support services, specifically with the proliferation of wirelessly connected devices, commonly referred to as the Internet of Things, said David Temlak, senior vice president of customer service, innovation and delivery at PlumChoice.
