Tips

A. Virus Definitions and Software
  • Most anti-virus software is set to automatically update its virus definitions and run a weekly scan all on its own
  • Always allow the scan to run and make sure you view the results of the scan
  • If the results of your scan display a message stating that it was not able to remove a virus, try to follow the steps the anti-virus program provides to clean it off manually. If you don’t feel comfortable following those steps, please contact PlumChoice toll free at 1-888-758-6435 to schedule a computer service call with an online technician.

B. Spyware Definitions and Software

  • Spyware definitions are constantly growing in size and need to be updated at least once a week
  • A Spyware scan also needs to be run at least once a week, but only after you have updated the definitions
  • Run a full system scan and view the results
  • Follow the instructions provided by the software to remove all of it off your system
  • If the results of your Spyware scan display that it is unable to remove the Spyware found, contact PlumChoice to have the Spyware removed from your computer

C. Spyware Real Time Monitoring

  • Your Spyware removal software has real-time monitoring, which means that it is always watching your system for possible Spyware and blocking it before it gets onto your computer
  • Make sure your Spyware monitoring is running at all times
  • The best way to tell if it is running is to look in the lower right hand corner of your screen, where the time is located and look for the Spyware icon
  • Here is an example of what the icon should look like if you are using Lavasoft’s Adaware SE Plus with its real-time monitoring program Ad-Watch and Microsoft’s Anti-Spyware:

  • If the icons are not in the taskbar, locate them on your desktop and double click on them to start the real-time monitoring of your system
