PlumChoice Takes Employees ‘Back to School’ with Massachusetts Workforce Training Grant

BILLERICA, MA – (September 2nd, 2008) – PlumChoice (www.plumchoice.com), the leading provider of remote technical support services for home, home office and small business customers, today announced that it has received a $209,851 grant from the Massachusetts Workforce Training Fund to take its employees ‘back to school’ for ongoing skills enhancement. The grant is part of a state economic development program designed to create and accelerate conditions for job growth in Massachusetts.

PlumChoice will use the funds over a two-year period to train approximately 300 Massachusetts-based employees in advanced customer service skills, supervisory and leadership skills, and Kaizen management techniques dedicated to continuous business improvement.

The company has an additional 200 remote employees throughout the United States and continues to undergo rapid growth after more than tripling its workforce in the past year.

“Since we provide a critical technology support service, one of the keys to our success is delivering a stellar customer service experience. This grant will help us both maintain and enhance our employees’ customer service skills as well as groom employees for management positions,” said PlumChoice Founder and CEO Ted Werth. “We have great talent available in Massachusetts and this training grant will help us educate our workforce to provide a better, more valuable service which will result in growth and expansion to the Massachusetts economy.”

The Workforce Training Fund (WTF), administered by the Department of Workforce Development under the Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development, provides business and labor organizations with matching grants of up to $250,000 or more in certain cases to finance incumbent worker training. The Workforce Training Fund has helped thousands of employers gain a competitive advantage by investing in job-related training for hundreds of thousands of their employees.

As announced in April 2008, more than 4,100 grants have been awarded totaling over $150 million to train more than 208,000 Massachusetts workers since the inception of the fund in 1999. For information on the Workforce Training Fund, visit www.mass.gov/wtf.
