Latest Management Team Expansion for Growing Remote Technical Support Business
BILLERICA, MA (December 15, 2009) - PlumChoice today announced the appointment of Chanchal Samanta to serve as chief technology officer, a new position created in response to rapid expansion of the company's remote technical support services business. Samanta has held senior R&D and product development positions with top-tier companies in the telecommunications, enterprise software and financial services sectors, including Applix (now owned by IBM), Unica Corporation, Genesys Telecommunications Laboratories and Fidelity Investments.
Adding to recent management team expansions, Samanta will help PlumChoice enhance and optimize the technology platform through which it provides business partners with outsourced 24x7 U.S-based online technology repair and assistance under their own brands. Leading telecommunications providers, retailer/etailers and OEMs utilize PlumChoice services to supply customers with online support for a broad range of digital devices including PCs, Macs, smartphone devices, netbooks, MP3 players, network devices, printers and digital cameras, including providing increasingly critical support for device interoperability.
Samanta's appointment is the latest in a series of growth-related initiatives announced by PlumChoice over the last two months. These initiatives include securing a new $14.7 million funding round; adding the company's first chief operating officer as well as a new chief financial officer, chief information officer and vice president of sales and marketing; and opening the first PlumChoice regional support and training center in Scarborough, Maine, in October.
"PlumChoice was among the first companies to recognize that consumers and businesses need U.S.-based remote technology support that is available any hour of the day or night because of the world's increasing reliance on digital devices. Today that support is even more necessary because of the challenges associated with interconnecting devices," Samanta said. "Joining the company gives me the opportunity to help address those challenges, drive continuous service improvements, and meet the evolving needs of our corporate partners as well as their end customers."
"We are at a point in our growth cycle where our core offerings are firmly and successfully in place. Now we are building on that foundation to ensure that we can continue to scale as well as continually raise the bar in efficiency, effectiveness, and device coverage and interconnection," said PlumChoice CEO Ted Werth. "Our new executive appointments, new funding round and new Center of Excellence in Maine are all key steps in developing our organization to achieve that goal."
